Why I became Christian
My name is Jessica Harcup and I am writing this blog to inspire and help those who are trying to strengthen their relationship with God.
Since I can remember, I have always believed in God and assumed that meant I was religious. I never once read my bible, I never prayed (unless I was asking for something), and I lived for the world without even thinking about God. Whilst I was living for the world, I was not as happy, joyful and hopeful as I am now.
The difference between me then and me now, is that I am a follower of Christ. Before, I followed the crowd, even if that meant I was doing something that I knew in my heart was wrong. This is a very important thing about Christianity- it is likely you will go down a path most won't. It will inevitably feel lonely and you may feel like an outsider but you must understand God is constantly with you. One of my devotions said something and it opened my eyes: 'God is closer to you than the air you breathe'. He will always be by your side, so if you feel alone because you've gone down the path no-one else would, know God is not leaving you, and he will shine a light down the path you take, if you know in your heart it was the correct path for you.

John 3:30
However, my happiness, joyfulness and hope was a result of me being Christian, rather than why I became one.
I think everyone has their own personal experiences with God- some were born into a religion, others were guided to God with people or moments of their life, like me.
A moment that led me to my religion was my grandfather passing away. My family and I watched him enter the kingdom of Heaven. On the day he passed away, the sunlight poured from the sky, flooding the Earth with light, rainbows led us back home, and birds flew across the sky, like none of us had ever seen before. My sister had a very special experience with God too as a result of this day, that is quite frankly unexplainable. This is when I knew I had to take God seriously, because He is the happiness, joy, hope and LOVE of the World, and I witnessed that.

There are many religions that society accepts and respects, so why and how do I know that Christianity is the correct religion?
Christianity is different from every other religion- us Christians believe Jesus is our King and saviour, and accepting him is what allows us to enter Heaven.
I believe this is true, and that is partly because I am from a westernised country, and obviously Christianity is very much a westernised religion (even though it was birthed in the Middle East). So I think it is because I see a difference between Christianity and other religions, but also because of where I was born.
